Colour

Pixaki has several different methods for selecting a colour. To select a new colour, tap on the currently selected colour in the top right. This will bring up the colour selection popover with three different methods for selecting colour — hue, saturation, and brightness (HSB), red, green, and blue (RGB), and hex code. Pixaki remembers the last colour selection method you used.

In all three colour selection modes, the previous and current colour are displayed at the top. Tapping on 'Previous' will reset the colour to the previously selected colour.

Hue, saturation, and brightness

For many, the HSB colour space is the most natural to work with as it was designed around how humans perceive colour. Touch and drag the circle to adjust the saturation and brightness, or tap anywhere on the saturation and brightness picker to jump to that colour. The hue picker scrolls infinitely in either direction — the hue at the centre of the picker represents the currently selected value.

If you'd prefer to use individual sliders for HSB colour selection, this can be changed in the Settings. The individual sliders are perhaps less intuitive, but offer more precision and also display the currently selected values.

Red, green, blue

To select a colour using red, green, and blue, swipe on each of the sliders to adjust the value. The currently selected value, which ranges from 0 to 255, is shown above each slider.

Hex code

If you have a particular RGB hex code to work with, you can enter this selecting ‘Hex Code’ option. Use the keypad to enter either a three- or six-digit hex code.

Eyedropper

To sample a colour from the canvas, select the tool from the toolbar, or touch and hold anywhere on the canvas to bring up the eyedropper. Drag your finger around to select the colour you want, which is previewed in the loupe. When you've finished selecting the colour, the brush tool will be automatically selected so you can continue drawing.
